dome light will not turn off
 

i have a 98 ford ranger and i cant seem to get the dome lights to turn off ive tryed slaming my doors turn the dome light switch off and on ive pulled the fuse and put it back in and nothing is working it still continues to stay on does anyone have any ideas to what it could be

take some WD40, spray it into your door latches. the connectors are most likely full of gunk and even with the door closed, "thinks" the door is open, which is why the dome light will not shut off.

Hi ,I've run into this lots in the last 14 years with mostly trucks with no push buttons in the door to operate the interior light in trucks . It will be the drivers door latch switch . Remove the door panel an you will see a wire comming from the switch . Unplug the switch "1 wire" an this will resolve your light on problem . You'll need a new switch if you want the light to operate as new . Bud
