Whats gonna fit?
Hi,
I have decided, with the help of other members of this forum, to replace the 2.3 L l4 in my 1983 Ranger with a v8. Would anyone know the biggest engine size that will fit into an '83 Ranger? |
Re: Whats gonna fit?
Depends on how much money you have and your definition of something fitting. Best bet would be to research what others have installed so you that you have some notion if you can complete the project with whatever engine you end up wanting to put in.

Re: Whats gonna fit?
There's dalpilot on this forum that has a diesel that is worth checking out. BigBlockRanger - http://www.bigblockranger.com - 545ci big block. Also guys with 4.6L/5.4L, etc. Seems most common is the 5.0L. 351w would be bad ass. Also have seen a 351M BII, those things are monsters as far as size.

Re: Whats gonna fit?
(Pshcopete) I was looking at the 351s, 350s (not much difference to the 351), and 300s (Well, I will look at these). I was hoping to get maybe a 350 or something around that. I don't think a 545 will fit in the not-so-big angine compartment on my '83.
Thanks for your input! |

350 chevy would be a good choice also. 327 would be cool too. Had one in an old '85 Grand Prix - my avatar is that 327 I put in. Read this though, It's amazing how much of a difference heads will make. http://www.carcraft.com/techarticles...dup/index.html |
Re: Whats gonna fit?
Well, I don't have enough money (at the point) to buy and install a 545... I also may not be able to handle the power of a 545. I think I will stick with a 350 or 327.
thanks, Jake |
