Rear end noise
When on the gas it gives a noticeable noise. But when off the gas it makes no noise. It has to be something that turns with acceleration. Any ideas on what can be going wrong? I dont wanna scrap the rear

Re: Rear end noise
Can you narrow this down anymore and maybe a sound, could be bad u-joints in the drive shaft, main a bad pinion bearing. I would start wwith the u-joints though
|
Re: Rear end noise
Its a hum/whine type noise. Its from the rear end. its a 7.5. Its deff not the u-joints. The noise is only noticeable when on the throttle

Re: Rear end noise
probably cus your running 3.55 with them big ass 33s haha. i have no idea, maybe its cus your running shackles on the front, and the weight ransfer makes the noise so maybe you need to give them to me and it wont make that noise ;) haha just messing with ya

Re: Rear end noise
Nooooo. this is on my other axle I got for free. lol. Im just worried about putting it on
|
Re: Rear end noise
ooo ya doesnt sound good, hopefully you can get that fixed and not worry about it...just worried abou gettting your spindles off and when i can pick them up :D
|
Re: Rear end noise
Problem is....it's a 7.5.:D
Can you hear it when you jack the rear axle up and spin the wheels? |
Re: Rear end noise
lol pat,
And no not when it spins freely ---------- everyone keeps telling me to check the bearing where the drive shaft connects to the axle. (cant think of the name but I know the dang thing lol) But its fine and has no play in it |
Re: Rear end noise
How positive are you that the noise is coming from the rear?
|
Re: Rear end noise
100%. With mine in it now its fine. Swapped axle, sound appears. lol
|
Re: Rear end noise
Hmm. So have you already swapped this axle in?
|
Re: Rear end noise
Nah i took it out already. Dont want it to mess up. That noise is kinda sketchy. But until i figure out whats goin on, im stuck with these 3.55s getting shit gas mileage
|
Re: Rear end noise
Oh okay I see, it started to happen when you swapped this axle in. Have you pulled the diff cover on it and had a look?
|
Re: Rear end noise
Yeah it looks normal. nothin is loose. but a had a guy look at it and tell me that the gears might be to tight? backlash im assuming. and also could be a bad bearing.

Re: Rear end noise
axle shaft wheel bearing? Pinion bearing? ( I know a pinion bearing clunks when you let out on the gas though...)
