My 2002 XLT Ranger runs fine untill I reach 3100rpm and engine starts to cut out. Acts like it has a rpm limiter. Any thoughts on this problem?

It is a RPM limiter. Need a programmer to remove.

VegasRanger02 if it only does it in nuetral and park then its the rev limiter my truck does the same but if it does it wen your goin down the road then its a spark problem or camshaft position sensor

Re: 2002 XLT 3.0L Ranger cuts out @ 3100rpm

I figured it was a rev limiter, I just wondered because I see people reving their trucks on youtube to show their exhausts, and they seem to rev higher idk.

It is most likely not the cause of your problem, but my truck used to cut out/ hesitate around 70 mph on highway. Research I did associated it with camshaft syncronizer. Changed that, powers right past 70 now.

Thanks Guys. Not sure why truck limiter was active during Drive. I took it out for another drive and all is well now. Thanks again.
