Fog Lights

On my '09 XL, there is not fog lights, and I'd like to add them to help get some light into the snow in the winter months.

The hole plug where the fog lights goes can be removed, and it looks like there are plugs in to plugs the lights into.

I want to make as stock looking as I can.. Have you guys done anything on your XL?

Okay this is really simple

You probbaly have the wires at the bumper

All you need is the factory radio bezel with foglight switch. You will then need to connect that switch with the distribution box under the hood to the relay for the foglights

U may be able to get the wiring from dash to box from a junk yard in a totaled ranger with foglights

FYI...you have an 08 so the fog light switch was integrated into the headlight switch IIRC.

EDIT: Best route would probably be to get a fog light bezel switch from a pre-05 and dremel a hole in your current bezel since I beleive you have some other lights or indictators on your bezel that were not on pre-05s...

I really need to see some pics of the new bezels...

Nice catch Justin I forgot about the new foglight switch

Thge radio bezels really have not changed that much they just dont have the foglight switch anymore

I don't understand the void they have on the right top corner though

Here is a close up of the new headlight/fog light switch. You just pull it out once you turn the switch to your parking lights on

That spot is where the passenger air bag light show if the air bag is off.

Seems to be a odd place to put it

That bezel is strange. They moved the 12V power point down to where the fog light switch was, aand for no apparent reason.

looks like the same switch that my work van has(2005 e350) or the old work truck has(2002 f350) think its the same switch? ill steel it out of the old truck along with the fogs lol just joking i would not take the fog lights but the switch now thats a hole norther story lol

RangerJustin 09-09-2009 07:43 PM

Yep same switch for who knows how many years now.

Oh and the new bezels have the light there since they now have that audio adapter where it used to be for the radio so you can plug your ipod/mp3 player in.

I wonder if there is any wire there now behind the non-fog light truck?

blueovelboy 09-11-2009 11:56 PM

wounder how much you have to do to get the auto lights and fogs like in the f150s prob a lot of extra wires and relay and a photocell somewhere but that would be cool never have to touch the switch just set it and forget it at 3100 lumen's on comes the lights and at 3400 lumen's off they go now that would be sweeeeeet

blueovelboy 09-11-2009 11:58 PM

dose rangers even offer that as a option? (the auto lights thing)

STL 09-12-2009 06:10 AM

auto lights like day time running lights?

They are standard on Canadian rangers
