Transmission removal question
 

I have everything done except the transmission itself. How many bolts are in a 94 ranger with 4cylinder engines transmission? I have the bottom 2 out and what I have been reading is there is 2 up top, but I don't see anymore other than those. What is the best tool to get the ones in the top out with a wrench or a socket? And do I need to remove the starter? Also I don't have a haynes manual yet, does anyone know the torque specs for the clutch diaphram, Flywheel (because I am going to go ahead and change the rear main seal), the transmission, and the bolts on the driveshaft?

I found the other bolts I got 6 out now, removed the starter but it seems to be still stuck on something. Anybody have any hints on removing it. I don't have a transmission jack but I have rigged up my floor jack to hold it.

I THINK, there are 8 total, did you get the two at the very top, right behind the engine? They are rather fun to get to and to see (insert sarcasm here).

Thanks for posting I got out 6 all together I did get one from the top passenger side and I thought I got the other one on the driver side under the car I reach on the back and found one but it might not be the right one. Is there 4 on the opposite side of the transmission like the ones up top?

some of the bolts are opposite direction of the others...
some go in this way >

i know on my 4.0 there are 6 i got from the bottom and two up top that i had to get from the engine compartment

Sorry to get back with you guys late, but I did get it out there is 8 bolts in it. I have one more question if the is a small chip on 2 of the flywheel teeth is that a big deal? I might end up buying a flywheel anyway I just don't have a big budget right now.

pics? if there are damaged teeth, get a used one and have it turned

I got a used one yesterday had it turned. Does anyone know the torque specs for the clutch, fly wheel, and clutch slave cylinder if it has one, or does the slave cylinder need to be just tight?

Idk torque specs on flywheel.. I just get 'em good n tight.. slave just have to be tightened. don't over tighten the slave cause the trans case is aluminum (don't want to strip)

Clutch pressure plate to fly wheel bolts: 15 - 24 ft-lbs
Release cylinder-to-clutch housing bolts: 13 - 19 ft-lbs

I can't find anything on the flywheel, so good and tight.
