Stick-on Emblems Question
Sorry if this has been discussed before, but I did a quick search and didn't come up with anything.
OK.....I have recently bought a few items that just stick on your truck with 3M double-sided tape. I don't know if it matters, but its 2 of the Escape V-6 emblems, and a pair of chrome mirror caps/covers..or whatever. My question is.....on some of the packaging it says that the ideal "stick-on" temperature for adhesion is 70 deg F through 100 deg F. Does this really matter? I mean, if I put them on in 40 degree weather are they gonna pop off or something? Seriously...should I wait until it warms up...or could I just take a blow-dryer and warm the area a bit before I stick them on? http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1...uck_smiley.gif |
Re: Stick-on Emblems Question
Its not like they are heavy and may pull off the truck. I don't see why you couldn't stick them on. Just park it in the sun for a little or something and make sure the area is CLEAN.

Re: Stick-on Emblems Question
Yeah, I would just wait. If you put them on now you will not get proper adhesion and they will probably just fall off. If you use a blow dryer it will help, but it still won't be as good as putting them on in 70 degree weather unless you keep that spot warmed for quite a while with a space heater or something.

Re: Stick-on Emblems Question
Make sure it's clean. Take a hair drier to it if you like.

Re: Stick-on Emblems Question
personally. i would wait for it to get warmer to put on the chrome mirror caps but i think you should be safe to put on the emblems. From experience, i put on a set of bed rails last winter.. I tried to warm up the garage before i put them on but they have been a pain since. I really wish i would have waited until later to put on the bed rails but whatev. I've learned my lesson and that is why my new ranger emblems are sitting in my room still. haha. damn cold ohio weather.
