my brakes stop working right before I come to complete stop
 

I need help! When im about to come to a complete stop, my brakes almost stop working and the compression rises to the brake pedal and I have to keep pressing hard on the brake for it to finally come to a complete stop. I really need to take it in somewhere to get fixed. I just dont want to get screwed cause I dont know much about maintnence work. Please help!

For some reason right when im about to completely stop, i feel a compression in my brakes and i have to almost step as hard as i can for my truck to completly stop. Whats the problem? does anybody know what it can be?

may just need to bleed the brakes. check the fluid level if its low or has been low in the resent past you might have air in the system.

well first step in almost any brake diagnosis is to take the wheel off and look at the brakes, look for anything broken and then try bleeding them also check the big hose coming out of your brake booster (right behind the master cylinder) to make sure it isnt broken you may be loosing vacuum from the engine because its not at a higher RPM

to be honest I dont know much about working on a vehicle or what to look for. But thanks for the advice. Im gonna try and get my buddy to check it out

If you are not mechanically inclined (don’t mess with it) you don’t want to be without brakes, take it to someone who is, a friend or shop. Try to explain exactly what it is doing (not doing) so they know where to start and not charging you to find the problem just fix it.

x2 on the vacum line. didn't think about that.

well just look at the hose i have the red box around (its going to look diffrent on your truck because its a diffrent engine and newer but it should be in the same place)

thanks guys, im looking into it now
