Need help with dome light
 

My dome light is staying on. Well I took the bulbs out, but I have put in the ohc today and wanted to finish connecting everything but the dome light just stays on.

Is this something with the dome ligh board? or is the power cut on/off at the wire?

Right now I have the ohc wired to the wires for the dome light, I just have the one pwr wire unhooked and am using the lamp button on the ohc to use the light as of right now, but it would be nice if the light came on when the door is open

also, i really dont care about the original dome light. if there is a way to bypass it or not.

Have you tried the "spray a bunch of wd-40 in the door switch & slam it a few times" trick yet?

possibly your (i believe magnesium) door switch which senses the door being opened or closed. i replaced mine and haven't had that problem again

I guess I didn't know about the door switch, were is it exactly. how would 1 replace it?

before you replace the switch/ latch/ handle assembly try the WD-40 trick first. spray some into the door latch and open and close the door a few times to work it in. if that doesnt work than you have to replace the latch which comes in an assembly that includes the latch and inner door handle. costs about $100 from the dealer.

i had my light come on a few years back and it wouldnt shut off and while talking to ford they told me the switch isnt serviceable and i had to replace the entire assembly so i did only to have the interior light come back on a month or so later, after some reading online i came across the WD-40 trick so i tried it and it worked and the light has stayed off since.

well if it comes to replacing the switch the hell with it, I'll just push the damn button! lol

Does it stay on AFTER you hooked up the OHC?

yes, as does the ohc.

all tho now, im not getting anything at all, it must be the switch
