Engine Chips

Hey guys, recently the engine got fried on my 2002 4.0 V6 4X4 XLT so now im dropping in a "new" engine same kind etc just less miles on it and i was wondering if anyone thinks any engine chips out there a worth a damn? I figure now would be a good time to do it and im replacing my exhaust at the same time with dual out so i figure I might squeeze a few more ponies with a edge chip or something. Any reccomendations or if you think its just a bunch of bull is highly appreciated!!!

Re: Engine Chips

You probably already know this, but don't buy one of those chips off of eBay that promise 60+hp and 35+mpg lol

I know with some of the performance chips, you need to swap out your thermostat, coil pack and wires, so I'd check into that before you order one. I think Jet says you need to change them out, not sure though.

Re: Engine Chips

I bought one of these (the Flashpaq) stock vs performance set I notice a difference. Not huge but it is noticeable. You just plug it into your diagnostic port and follow the instructions on the screen. 1st thing it will do is analise your stock settings and save that. Then you can always return it to stock. It can raise your rev and speed limits, adjust for larger wheels and a few other things. Before the end of the year there is a rebate.

A local retailer can tell you all about it in greater detail.
