second speaker housing

ok so i am wanting to put a second speaker housing in the door of my reg cab '08 so that there is two in each door has anyone already done this and think that it is a good idea because i am going to be putting another sub in my truck so there is two and i want a good balance in the music so that the sub is not over powering the speakers and visa versa

i was thinking more in the door i have seen those and didnt like them cuz i wont be able to use my ebrake. since my truck is a standard i use that rather than put it in gear when i park it there is a sound shop near where i live and he said he can put the housing in the door for $500 (and thats both sides) and i want to know if its worth it

STL 08-21-2009 08:14 PM

would be worth it to me if I had a 5 speed better location IMO

I would worry about the comfort of it if came out to far and was in the way while driving

i think that it would be in the way lol i kinda wanna know if someone else has done it and what they think of putting the extra housing in the door how many speakers are you running in your truck STL, 4 or 6?

STL 08-22-2009 06:53 AM

4 door speakers Alpine type R

2 10" subs Alpine type R

1 6.5" sub in center console Alpine type R

2 tweeters in the door

9 total speakers

Personally I don't think it would be worth it. I would say get a nice set of components and that should give you the highs and mids you would ever need.

STL 08-22-2009 10:48 AM

Alpine makes 2 different component sets

I have the alpine type R set but I am only running the one 6.5 sub not both

I believe that one pair of components, properly amplified and crossovered will perform as good or better. More of a quality vs. quantity.

There is a yellow ranger on car domain that has 3 speakers in each door you should look him up.

I'd agree with those who suggested components. More is not necessarily better.

what i am trying to get from my truck is clarity when the volume is extremely loud. i am going to be putting in another 10" sub i have an 800 watt amp that will run the two 10" and i will get a 4-channel amp (not sure on watts) to run the rest of the speakers and i dont want the bass to to be over powering (and turning the volume down is not an option....) and i want to know that if the extra speakers will keep it even
