Remove door chime?
 

Does anybody know how to make the door chime go away. I don't want it to make sound for anything (key in the ignition or headlights on) is it just a fuse or can I just unplug the thing?

After searching I saw that there are how to's for 03 and older on many sites but I can't find a definite to 04+. If anybody has successfully done this to an 04+ let me know.

All the other ways say you will lose your dome light when you open the doors and I don't like that.

This one would be the coolest set up but and be the answer to the dome light issue but still no confirmation on 04+

Yes, I have had this one installed in my 2003 for several years and it works great.

Here is a newer version of that same mod that has been successfully done on a couple of 2004's. It should work just as well on all 2004~2006 Rangers but, as always, proceed at your own risk.

(Note that 2007 and later use different wiring and color codes so neither of these will work as shown.)

Cant say on a 04 but 02 I just removed the plastic panel under the steering column and exposed the ignition and cut the wire, I believe it was tan and black. I did the same on my Powerstroke years ago. Now you can leave the keys it with the doors open and it does not effect anything else. Its the wire that comes off a blue connector on the side of the ignition switch.
