FX4 VS Edge. wannA Transform it
 

so i got an 02 edge 4wd and wondering whats the difference between an 02 fx4 4wd. obviously the fx4 is better but all i see different is fender flares and interior etc. ive looked online and cant find any real info about the two. most of the differences seem like cosmetic things. i heard the fx4 has a little better shocks or something for off roading but what else. also is there a way to basically turn my edge into an fx4. would it be wrong to lol if i made it look and got some fx4 parts on it would it be socially acceptable to put the fx4 logos etc. kinda like when someone puts a vtec motor in a non si honda civic. if u put the vtec in and match up interior and other little things its pretty much an SI, if the makers did this they would just call it an Si so can consumers do it to save money lol take a less expensive ranger and build it to fx4 specs and call it good. i guess this is just useless ramble but was just looking for advice

doesn't seem like theirs a whole Lotta difference. i got an edge 4wd, with power options, upgraded sound system 6 cd thing, 4.0l v6 sohc. seems like im missing fender flares and interior details like different gauges and two colored seats...interesting.

im getting fender flares and putting new leather seats in it so in my view i will have an fx4 basically. i don't see harm in putting fx4 decals on it lol

Your edge should have painted flares stock.

All you need to really call it a FX4 is the chrome bumpers

yup, get you some chrome bumpers and that is about all you need unless you want the perks of fx4 level 2 package but those are going to be hard to find

my fender flares are painted to match. Ive seen most fx4's with the black plaastic/composite fender flares that make em more beefy those r wat im getting because i think they look better. plus i hate chrome so i wont be getting chrome bnumpers lol i think ill get my truck all beefed up then look into some other fx4 specs and put the stickers on. i think the stickers make the truck look better too so....

whats the perks of that? i havent even seen or really heard about level 2 or 3's in a fx4 im confused.

i heard fx4's have 4.10 gears and a limited slip differential. i dont know if my edge has those but ill look into it. im not to good with the technical stuff on trucks

their is never anything wrong with adding your touch to the ranger, its yours and thats what makes it unique, as for putting fx4 badges on, heck yea do it, you have a 4x4 anyways RIGHT?

most edge 4x4's have 4.10s and a L/S and no such thing as a level 3, just 2

They had a 31 spline rear axle, manual transfer case and other things. Search it

There's a website called http://westonsigns.com that used to have FX4 decals until Ford told them to take them down. they were real nice too

I made my '99 Sonoma into a ZR-2, my friend had a '99 S-10 ZR2 that had a bad motor, I just pulled all necessary parts off it and put em on my truck, nobody ever gave me crap about that.


Oh, and your comment about the civic v-tech... I have a Civic EX but it has a V-tech, it doesnt have to be a Si lol
