A little Q&A Time with Ford
Stephen G Fiddes: Are there any plans for the US Ranger to be continued? Rumor has it that it's ending after this year. If that is the case, why is it being discontinued seeing as it is the best selling, most durable small truck around?
Ford Ranger: We just invested USD 500 million in AAT for the Ford Fiesta. We're investing USD 350 million in AAT for the new Ranger. And we're investing USD 450 for our new manufacturing plant in Thailand. That's quite a commitment for Ford to make to Thailand Ford Ranger: We're building the Ford Fiesta right now, new Ranger next year, next-generation Focus in 2012. - Joe |

Re: A little Q&A Time with Ford
Dan Gilbert: i understand the focus on the f series, but taking one of the best selling pick ups of all time, that generally donesnt need a huge improvement (aside from a coil over suspension in lew of the torsion bars), seems a little difficult to acce...pt. the world is looking for smaller pick ups and now you are taking that option away. even if the sales over all are down, there will always be a need for small service pick up, the us ranger hands down owns that market....
the us ranger could dominate the us market (in light truck) with small changes: 4 full doors (like global), coil over front suspension, a 4cyl an eco boost 6 and a v8. hope this does not fall on def ears ford...go browse the forums...please |
Re: A little Q&A Time with Ford
Ben Rusnoke: do you honestly think people will trade up being ranger enthusiasts to buying an F150? look at pickuptrucks.com most of the guys (especially Ford guys) are pissed at Ford for so far stating that the ranger will be discontinued... and that they should get an f150 instead. most have said they would rather buy another brand than to not get a Ranger. READ THE POSTS WE WANT R RANGER! but not to big, toyota enthusiasts are pissed at toyota for making the tacoma to big. WILL YOU NOT LISTEN TO THE CUSTOMER FORD?
