pics of the truck and my workplace

Got bored on my lunch, so i jumped in the truck and went to the observation area at work to take some pics. Heres where i work. Its the world's largest open faced granite quarry located in Mt. Airy, NC (better known as Mayberry from The Andy Griffith Show). NC Granite Corp. (my company) has been getting granite continuously out of this quarry since 1889 without interruption. There is enough granite there to last another 600 years or more ast the rate we cut at. We only cut and AVERAGE of 1" a year off the top. It goes down a couple of miles and is quite a few acres. here is the history History of the Quarry. We have provided granite for such things such as WWII memorial, Wright Brothers Memorial, most granite curbing in new England states, etc....and many more i dont kow about! I am a draftsman there. i draw out the stone for fabrication.

Those are some big ole chunks of granite there. Your building is amazing looking! Does it stay really cool inside with the granite exterior?

I HATE THE GRANITE DUST!!! i cant wash it everyday! i deal with the dirtyness till friday and then i wash it EVERY friday! Good thing is i dont work on the actual quarry, i work in the building shown, so i dont have to go through gravel or anything, BUT the dust is still there!

i can have it superclean sunday, and by monday noon, it has dust all over it!

my fix is as soon as i get a place, im getting a beat to drive to work and the Ranger aint never seein the quarry again!

I also have to be carful when i was it, i have to rinser her real good or that crap swirls paint
