Heat Stove Question

On my ranger as with all of them there is part called a heat stove. This draws in hot air to heat up the engine faster. I need to replace mine and im wondering is there and official name for this part? and were can i get one? Also how does it mount on?

Re: Heat Stove Question

I thought everything had hook ups to the coolant system for that now. If what you are talking about is a tube that runs up from the exhaust manifold to the intake. I haven't seen one of them on a vehicle since they did away with caburettors.

Re: Heat Stove Question

Those were on carburated engines and I'm pretty sure their only purpose was to prevent carb icing. Clearly not a factor on a fuel injected engine.

well be prepared to eat your words! My truck engine is definently fuel injected. got pics to prove it plus ive done tests on my injectors so they are surley there.

Re: Heat Stove Question

My impala had a coolant loop through the throttle body to keep it from freezing closed.

You may be looking at your EGR system, which draws a small amount of exhaust gasses back into the intake plenum for emissions purposes.

Wintermute might be right. Is what you are talking about wrap around the exhaust or is it piped right into it?

Re: Heat Stove Question

it is a small piece of sheet metal that goes fromt he first cylinder exit to the 2nd one and then has a tube connected to the intake via a switch which is activated by the bi metal sensor.

I'll be damned... I haven't seen one of them in years. Have you checked with a stealership? Other than a junk yard, I suspect that will be your only choice.
