Anyone have a dixe horn
 

I want to get a dixie horn for my truck but I want one that sounds good. I know Wolo makes one but I heard that the compressor is really loud and the sound quality isn't that great. Does anyone have a good sounding dixie horn?

I had one on mine back in the day. Sounded AWESOME and was loud. In high school I regularly got yelled at by the drama teacher when I redid the wiring to speed up the compressor....and his class was a good 200 ft away. Got it from JC Whitney about 7 years ago and it was on 3 different rigs. Needed a replacement compressor because I didn't oil it as I shoulda and it only cost me about $10.

I got pics somewhere but can't locate 'em. I've got 'em posted up at Ranger-Forums already though.

i had one on my 02. Yes the compressor is loud, but the horns are loud too! I used a lawn mower starter solenoid to run it (made it a little bit louder).

Also, you have to play with the plastic tube lengths to get the proper speed and sound. I found the shorter the tube lengths, the 'realer' it sounded if that makes any sense.

I got a Calvery Charge horn from an older lady from my church back when I was in high school. She used to raise hell with it in her old Dodge. She said she wanted to pass the torch to me....lol. I think the horns are over 30 years old. I've rebuilt the compressor numerous times. Still works great!

She passed away a few years ago and every time I drive by her old house where she used to live I crank it up in memory of her.

that is kool, old ladys love their truck haha, my neighbor ha dme help him put it fog horns from his yacht, idk exact decibels but its louder than being inside a jet engine when its on, rather morbid thought i know
