Hard wire Radar to cig. lighter?

I'm installing my OHC wiring tomorrow, and wondered if anyone has tapped into the back side of the cig lighter with the power wire for a radar detector. I just want to see if it is possible and if there would be any problem running an additional 12v plug in at the same time. What about fuses?

I ran my CB off that, it came with an inline fuse. I would be careful of using that for your radar detector just because it is always hot. So you would need to remember to turn off the radar everytime.

tap into the 12v acc wire from the OHC and ground it where you ground the OHC that way the radar comes on with the vehicle and you can tuck the extra wire into the headliner.

I too take power for my CB using the constant 12V hot at the cig lighter. And since it's always hot, you gotta turn it on, turn it off manually. Wiring a radar detector will make you have to turn it on and off manually. IMO....pain in the arse. lol.

NOW....this is for the cig lighter on the RIGHT side of the radio bezel. The cig lighter on the LEFT side is only hot with ignition on. I'd tap into that or the stereo/radio's ignition hot for the radar detector.

NOTE: I'm unsure if ALL '06 and older trucks w/ 2 cig lighter ports are wired like this. Mine is though and I've not changed anything other than tapping for power.
