Nite-Shaded 3rd brake light

Sorry for the crappy pictures. My camera's at my dad's house and i didn't feel like driving all the way there to get it. Anyways, wanted to experiment with Nite-Shade(got a free can and figured I'd like to try it) so I took off the 3rd brake light, cleaned it really well and sprayed it with two medium coats. Topped it all off with 3 coats of clear. It looks pretty dark in these pictures but in the sunlight it's not that dark which is what I was going for. Let me know what you think.

In direct sunlight:

In the shade:

And with the cargo lights on:

I'll get some night shots here in a little bit for those that are curious.

has it started cracking yet, I had a few friends from work do some on their taillights and both of theres ended up cracking out, but up here in KY right now is not a good time to try and do a good paint/nightshade without having a booth.

No cracking yet. I guess we'll see.

Not yet. Today was just an experiment. I'll be getting some wet sandpaper tomorrow and some better clear coat. The clear coat I used today wasn't really meant for plastic. I'm going to spend more time on my tails though.

When you turn the dial by the headlight switch up and the dome light comes on.

not at all hahaha my brother just showed me that you can do that with your switch to turn the dome light on in my truck like a month ago. but i didnt know it was for the cargo also. i don't have the wire to have the cargo light but my bro does just his bulbs were burned out. fixed that and now it works on his.

No. Get a can of VHT Nite-Shade. Spray the lights with that. Then spray them with clear.

I ran into that problem once. The reason it cracked is a combination. First you have to clean it with an ammonia based product, I used windex. Let it dry or use an air compressor to blow it dry. Then when you apply it do very very light coats, almost like you are barely putting any on. Let it dry well, and put another coat on. Kepp doing those steps till you get to the way you want it. I ruined a 3rd brake light and a pair of tails because of that
