my buddie has an underground spring almost directly under his driveway, had a very similar problem. they dug a trench that leads out to the edge of the road, fabbed up a box out of old railroad ties i think, then covered it with new gravel. worked great, but i've always wondered what will happen when it starts to rot.....

Railroad ties really wont rot that quick. Theyre treated with creasote and oil. We used to sell used railroad ties at the lumber yard where I used to work. Most were well over 100 years old. Heavy as shit too! most were at least 100lbs. some were closer to 200lbs. Sometimes theyd come in with spikes and plates still attached.

oh yeah and Ditch Witch FTW! We had one at the lumber yard that we rented out. They dont fuck around. It even had a locking differential.

I just had a main break in my front yard as well, water dept said it was my problem. I spent 2 days trying to dig by hand and eventually rented a machine. I dug it up, found the leak, spent 4.00 to fix it and filled it. Now 1/4 of my front yard needs a new leveling and seed and all that crap! It took me 10 years to get my yard to look nice and its all messed up! Check to see if your homeowners insurance would cover it, mine wouldn't but you may luck out!

Re: Fml

nope they wont cover it. its gay.and if i wanted to rip part of the driveway up id use one of those. but i dont want to have to do all that concrete work.

Re: Fml

If it's a small hole you can cut out of your driveway cut it with a STIHL saw and after the leak is patched you might be able to get away with patching it with quick crete
