My Headlight, 4x4 & Fog Switch LED mods (KY)
2011 PRICING UPDATE SEE BELOW
I could have sworn I made a posting here for my LED mods... Oh well. Here goes. For Sale: my custom LED mods for OEM Headlight Switches, 4x4 switches and Fog Light Switches. These mods should work with any switch that looks like these: Fog Switch: http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...gswitchled.jpg Headlight Switch: http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...dlightled2.jpg I'm missing a pic for the 4x4 switch, but it looks pretty much like the headlight switch... sorry. What my mods look like installed: Yours will probably look better than these do, with color coded wire/heat shrink to distinguish the LED color. http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...switchled2.jpg http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...switchled3.jpg http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...dlightled1.jpg http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...dlightled4.jpg What the mods look like by themselves: http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...f/IMG_0809.jpg http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...f/IMG_0806.jpg I can mod all 3 of these switches with RED, BLUE or GREEN LED's. I have WHITE & YELLOW LED's also, but the white looks blue-ish and the yellow doesn't seem as bright as the other colors...so I don't recommend white or yellow. These LED's are High Output, much brighter than the old stock bulbs. - How do they work? You simply replace your old bulb holders with my modded LED holders. - How long does it take to do this mod? It takes about 1 minute to swap the holders if you're slow. It takes about 30 minutes to take the dash apart to get to the headlight switch, which is the hardest to get to. - How long is it going to take after I pay for them before I receive them? It depends... I try to make them ASAP after I receive the order & I try to ship them out ASAP after they're finished. Things happen, I may be busy with another project & can't get started right away or an emergency could pop up. In general I try to get these done within a day & ship within 3 days. - Do I need to do a bunch of extra wiring? HECK NO! All you need to do is pop in the modded bulb holder, it requires a flat blade screwdriver (I use a 3/16" wide screwdriver). The bulb holders are held in place by a 1/4 or 1/2 twist lock. - How bright are they, really? Take a look at mine: http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...adlightmod.jpg http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...0stuff/4x4.jpg http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...switchmod3.jpg http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...gswitchmod.jpg - How much is this gonna set me back? AS OF 1-1-11 I'm making these for $10.00 EACH, shipped FREE (USA). I do ask that they be pre-paid. All I ask in return is for you to send me your old bulb holders when you have my LED mods installed so I'll be able to make another set for someone else. Just an envelope, some bubble wrap & a stamp is all it should take. - Do I need to do any other modifications? Only a slight modification to the Fog Switch mounting bracket is recommended. http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...chbracket1.jpg http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...chbracket3.jpg http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...chbracket4.jpg A small area of the mounting bracket, just above the top of the fog switch should be trimmed to allow clearance for the new LED mod wiring. A couple snips with wire cutters & a little trimming with a sharp knife & the plastic bracket should be good to go. Some people with my mods didn't trim the fog switch bracket & theirs fit snugly. I recommend trimming the bracket so that the fragile wires don't get damaged. I hope to have a similar LED mod for the nasty Cruise Control Pods available soon, but I've been too preoccupied with custom Ford Ovals & LED mods to have time to work on the Pod Mod. I've made several of these LED mods in different colors & so far everyone seems pretty happy with them. I'm sure when some of the guys who already have them will drop by & post their comments. If you'd like one, or all of these mods, drop me a PM with what you'd like & I'll get back with you ASAP. If my PM inbox is full, just post a message here for me to contact you. I HAVE SEVERAL OF EACH OF THESE BULB HOLDERS, I DON'T KEEP A LOT PRE-MODDED, BUT I TRY TO KEEP ONE OR TWO ON HAND READY TO SHIP. Since I don't know what color or which bulb anyone will need, I try to make them as needed. If you can live without your bulb holders for a few days, or if your bulbs are already shot, you can send me your bulb holders to mod. The only downside is that you'll have to remove your dash 2 times. :( PayPal is preferred for payments. I'm Verified with well over 1,000 transactions. Please include a note with your payment, I'll need your FRF username, shipping info, which bulb holder(s) you need & what color(s) you need. Ex: MrRanger Mr. Ford Ranger 123 Fourth Street Your Town, Your State, Your Zip Fog switch = (color), Headlight = (color), 4x4 = (color) This way I can print out your transaction details @ PayPal & keep everybody organized. 2011 PRICING UPDATE SEE BELOW
I've had a lot of interest from people wanting to change the Fog Switch ON indicator color from the stock green to other colors... I finally got around to experimenting with an old defrost switch & I've been able to change the ON indicator illumination! I can change the Fog Switch ON indicator color from the stock wimpy green to any of my standard colors: Red, Blue, White or my higher output than stock Green. All of my LED's are very high output. The drawback is that this mod is internal & permanent... meaning you'll need to send me your fog switch to mod OR you'll need to buy one of my pre-modded fog switches. Pricing: I can pre-mod a fog switch with your color of ON indicator LED's for $20.00 shipped USA. If you wouldn't mind sending me your old fog switch after you get the modded one installed, I'd really appreciate it... that will save me from needing to buy extra fog switches, thus keeping my prices as low as I can. The ON indicator mod does NOT include the "dash illumination" standard LED mod, but I'll try to cut you a deal if you want both. I'll try to get some side-by-side comparison pics in the next few days too. |

2011 UPDATES TO PRICING SEE BELOW
Finally have some pics of my ON indicator mods. Nevermind the use of defrost switches, I had a bunch of them to use for testing. Stock yellow http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...f/IMG_1175.jpg Stock green http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...f/IMG_1180.jpg My blue http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...f/IMG_1176.jpg My red http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...f/IMG_1177.jpg My green http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...f/IMG_1178.jpg My white http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...f/IMG_1179.jpg As you can see even in a brightly lit garage, they're pretty darn bright. This mod requires internal mods to the switch. Unless you have access to a good soldering iron, I don't suggest trying this mod yourself. PRICING: For a fog switch (tested) with the ON indicator mod in your choice of colors: $18.00 + shipping (USA) (Canada may be a little more shipping) Buy the ON indicator switch mod & I'll do my Light Bulb Icon mod for just $6.00 more (your choice of colors). |

Re: My Headlight, 4x4 & Fog Switch LED mods (KY)
Buggman, I'll do this when the weather gets better. It's too freaking cold outside for me to do anything. I can't even wash my truck. Kicking my ass right now lol.

Re: My Headlight, 4x4 & Fog Switch LED mods (KY)
Little update:
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...f/IMG_1418.jpg http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...f/IMG_1422.jpg I finally got a yellow fog switch led mod for my truck. Unfortunately, I had to make this mod internal & permanent so if anyone would like one I'll have to mod the switch & send it complete. I've tried this color led mod using my standard bulb holder mod, but the light just doesn't seem bright enough, so I cracked open a switch & installed a 5mm super high output led facing forward rather than down & it works better than I could have hoped for. |
Re: My Headlight, 4x4 & Fog Switch LED mods (KY)
Question, why are they permanent install now? Oh and the dash illumination, is that the light that shows the headlight and fog light icons? If so, I might be in the market for the fog light one and the dash one as well. In blue. Thanks boss.

Re: My Headlight, 4x4 & Fog Switch LED mods (KY)
Just the new yellow fog switch led mod will be permanent due to not being able to use the OEM bulb holders with those led's.
Dash illumination refers to the lights behind the gauge cluster, hvac panel, headlight switch icons, 4x4 switch icons & fog light switch "light bulb" icons. |
