Resale value of Rangers

Is it me or are dealers overpricing these trucks? $9,000 for an '02 seems like an awful lot. Btw, the particular one that caught my eye was an XL with a 7' bed, auto trans and 50k mi.

Then I guess my 2003 with all that one had PLUS cloth seats and 42K miles should be worth 11k? LOL!

Of course they do... that's how they stay in business. I pity the fool who pays the dealerships asking price.

Don't worry, when the 2012 Ranger comes out next September. The value on all pre 2012s will fall fast.

I bought my 98 sport 4x4 for 1500 with 82k miles, put 5 inches on it on 33 15.5 tsls before ever scraping off the for sale and some guy offered me 4600 for it. Dont know why but turned him down.

KBB on my 95 with 68k on it (going by miles on engine, not odometer) was like 3k....Think you're doing it wrong...Unless your truck didnt come with anything including AC and a stereo :D

Which is all the more reason to chop em up how we want them...Fuck the resale value, drive it till the wheels fall off...then build it back up bigger and badder, and repeat. In 2035 our trucks are going to be bad ass old school hotrods.

between that, and the last 3 years of "this is the last production year for the ranger", prices haven't changed much (other than the rebates on new vehicles, that is), lol.

And.. wouldn't it be nice Cole, driving our rangers around like bad asses in a world of hybrid/electric cars.. rawr

They low-ball the trade-in (that's why trade-in value is lower) and sell it for $1000's more than what they give you...Basically they get you twice when they do it. They make money off of you when you buy their vehicle for $1000's more than they paid, and they make money off of you when they sell you're old one for $1000's more than they paid you.

Just blue-booked my 97 on KBB, trade in for it right now is 2175 in good condition (which it is). Private party 3435 (paid 3100 after plates and taxes), but suggested retail is 4760. Thats just crazy.
