you don't neeed 4wd for the snow but it can be nice, if you wnat it get it but you don't need it 2wd will do fine if you know how to drive in snow. 4wd is nice to have

thanks guys, i guess ill save up for the 4wd which im assuming will also increase the resale value of my ranger....

true man, i forgot about that part but cruising in my ranger will make it all worth while...

Driving in snow in a 2wd pickup truck that weighs nothing is by no means "fine", but doable for the most part. You'd definitely have to weigh down the bed quite a bit, and know what situations require throttling out of. But your back end will always want to break loose, and all the know-how in the world won't keep you from getting stuck once in a while - especially in Canada. Four wheel drive doesn't work miracles, and it's not a free pass to be any less cautious when driving in snow, but it's a HUGE improvement over 2wd and can be the difference between being stuck and safely cruising along.

What the??? So not only do you guys get 4 doors and turbos, you get manual transfer cases, too? I hate you! :)

mr.ranger 07-18-2009 02:41 PM

thats what i was thinking, so i guess its definately worth the extra-money especially if i plan to keep my ranger for a long time..also, the canada point is valid as we get tonnes of snow up here...

mr.ranger 07-18-2009 02:43 PM
