Need help replacing Dash Lights 2000 Ranger Stock Model

2 Attachment(s)
Hello all,

Let me start off with, I know zip about vehicle repair.

The light responsible for illuminating my Fuel Gauge on my dash has burned out, and I am looking for some pointers to get started on replacing that light.

I've attached some pics of my dash just so you have an idea of what I am working with.

Now the only visible attachment points I can see are two nuts just under the lip of the dash on the top of where my speedometer is. I assume I just need to unfasten those to get at the lights behind it?

Any help anyone can provide would be appreciate.

Thank you very much.

Also.....................

Holy crap that is a lot to do for just replacing a bulb. hehe.

This is def going to be a week end project when I am sure I don't have to be anywhere. Might take a while since it will be my first time.

Thanks again.

No problem! I actually figured it out on my own and took it apart before that thread came out. I ended up calling the dealership and they told me not to touch the back wiring panel with bare hands or you will short the board out.....by then it was too late but it worked fine.

While your at it, change all 6 of them at once so u don't have to open it all up again. Just did mine last month. Followed the guide to a tee and it took me about 1.5 hrs (that's with cleaning all the sh$t that was in behind the panel and all of the air vents.

Good luck

Thanks for the advice. I still haven't gotten around to it just yet.

It usually takes me like 10 minutes to take it all apart and another 10 min. to put it all back together. Practices makes perfect.

I agree with you changing all the bulbs at once.

haha neither do i. Im buying a face plate with the tachometer.

Ranger_Pat 08-12-2012 07:27 AM

Just wanna highjack this thread for a moment since its already being discussed. I have the same truck and the same issue with burned out lights... but my gage cluster is ugly.. will a newer year ranger Gage cluster fit with the 2000? And if i get one with a Tachometer will it actually work?
