auto trans need advice
 

I recently purchased a 99 XLT 4x4 3.0 the trans shifts hard when you start and stop. I did the maintance on it replaced the fluid and filter. No excessive metal in the pan. Checked all u-joints they seem to be tight. Changed the rear diff fluid. When you take off it feels like the transmission slides rearward and when you stop it come forward with a clunk. Could it be the trans mount? Need your advice. Thanks

Usually a motor or trans mount wil just be noticable on take off.

I'd check for play in the slip yoke on the drive shaft.
