Changing Fuel Filter 2002 Ford Ranger 2.3L

Hi, I want to change Fuel filter on my Ranger. I see that it is a Different than my Mustang Fuel Filter. The Ranger has Green and Orange clips and is a 3 line filter. I am reading here that you just push in on these orange and green clips, what does this mean? My Mustang uses a Disconnect tool and this Ranger is Different. Some one here please explain How to push in on these clips, I am not seeing how. I am use to the Quick-disconnect lines. Please explain in detail. Thanks so much.

I can't really tell you in detail, but I seen my dad doing mine and my truck is a 2002 Edge 3.0 V6. All he did I think was use some pliers and pulled them out and then pulled the lines out and all I saw was fuel coming out so make sure you turn off your pump so that way it doesn't spew out fuel all at you. That is what I was told and I believe it says that on the fuel filter box as well. Check that first if not there is always Google lol. That helps a lot if no one else does. Hope this helped and goo luck.

Its hard to describe but if you get under there and look at it good you will see how the clips work. Use a pair of pliers or something similar, dont waste your money on any special tool. Once you figure it out its a piece of cake.

This applies for other years and models as well my 05 3.0 looks similar. Dont know if yours is the same but check it out and see if it helps.

Just press the line in towards the filter, press in on those clips, and pull out. Thats how it worked on mine. No tools needed.

On the '98 however, it uses disconnect tools.

That'd be what sounds like a quick connect.

cheap quick connect tools look like this and you can find them at advanced or autozone:

I also have the 2003 2.3l XLT. All i need to do to get the clips off is push them towards the filter then squeeze the clip and pull the line off?
