How To: Add aux jack to stock radio
This is a how to put a Auxiliary Jack in your truck with a stock radio so you can listen to your I-pod on the go.
What you will need:solder, soldering iron, speaker wire, Able to disassemble your radio, CD, Aux port or plug, Voltmeter. http://www.fordrangerforum.com/membe...8902-radio.jpg 1: Take your radio out of the dash and take it somewhere where you can disassemble it and not lose everything. 2:Disassemble radio until you can get underneath the CD player and where the CD player hooks up to the radio. http://www.fordrangerforum.com/membe...dio-inside.jpg 3:After disassembling look on the CD player where the connection between the CD player and the radio is made. http://www.fordrangerforum.com/membe...radio-over.jpg You should be able to see something marking to connections as R.out and L.out. http://www.fordrangerforum.com/membe...8900-radio.jpg These are the spots you are going to want to connect your wire to. (if you cannot solder to this location take the voltmeter and ohm out between the CD player and the Radio sides of the connection until you find the two spots on the other side. http://www.fordrangerforum.com/membe...r-location.jpg Solder to these locations if you cannot solder to the other locations http://www.fordrangerforum.com/membe...dio-solder.jpg 4: Run you wire out of the radio through one of the many holes available no need to make another. http://www.fordrangerforum.com/membe...radio-wire.jpg 5: Hook up either a aux plug or port (I only had a plug so that is what i put on) http://www.fordrangerforum.com/membe...dio-almost.jpg 6: Go inside and burn you a silent disc you should be able to find a silent song file pretty easy or you can email me and I can you send you one either way.(pcbrat9@yahoo.com) 7: Hook your radio back up. Run your new aux cord wherever you want insert the silent disc into your CD player hook up your I-Pod to the Aux jack and if you did everything right you should have crisp clean sound coming from your I-Pod through the radio available to your ears. http://www.fordrangerforum.com/membe...o-finished.jpg |

Radical and reckless, yet brilliant. I might have to do this and ditch the bluetooth-to-FM-to-Stereo link. I love it.

Finally finished the full project
added aux jack http://www.fordrangerforum.com/membe...-aux-added.jpg http://www.fordrangerforum.com/membe...1-aux-cord.jpg http://www.fordrangerforum.com/membe...2-aux-ipod.jpg After finally finishing everything Hooked everything back up and it sounded great no disruptions or anything. Definitely better than say a FM transmitter. or that cheap cassette deck I was using |
