Sgtsandman's Work in progress

Here's mine. I have it running pretty well now but it still needs some TLC.

That's because I took pics of the good sides. The passenger door has cancer. It might be fixable though...

Ah the beauty of a smaller pic! I need to take care of the rust spots and bubbling paint first. Then get her painted before I even think about a clay bar. Thanks, though. :)

Re: Sgtsandman's Work in progress

The plan is to put a new power steering pump, alternator and lower ball joints in it first. The pump is being a winey bitch, the alternator is throwing a light but charging the battery, and the ball joints are complaining. The previous owner changed the uppers in the last couple of years, so...

Though I'm sure the rising topper is functional, it looks bad to me. Good luck with the project, are you planning on keeping it stock?

Re: Sgtsandman's Work in progress

I would have preferred a cap that was even with the cab roof but it came with the truck. A "flat" cap would be more functional to me.

As far as keeping it stock, mostly.

I'm going to change out the rear end for a 3.73:1 with limited slip, get an instrument cluster with a tachometer, some fog lights (maybe from a '98 4X4 in the to be replaced valence), and maybe an over head console.

I might change out the carpet for a rubber floor as well, it depends on how the carpet cleans up in there (lots of chew stains).

It will definitely get a new paint job since the original is pretty much pooped and I'll decide about the wheels after I get the grease and dirt cleaned off.

It's primary purposes is to haul stuff I don't want in my SUV and as a back up vehicle (both are old).

I forgot to mention that I'm thinking about adding a rear sway bar as well. I've heard different things on that though. Supposedly a sway bar provides the most benefit when it comes to towing and little benefit any other time.

Pulled the trigger on a brand new, 2011 XLT. I had a choice of red or black and still get my manual transmission. Guess what I picked. :D
