New member - Jim from NJ. Informative forum,...hope to learn a lot here. I have a 2001 ranger edge 4x4 extended cab...bought with 6000 miles in 2002. Used daily until last year. I got tired of the poor gas mileage traveling 70 miles a day to and from work so I got a 4 cylinder car to save on gas. Ranger now has 98,000 miles and my 17 yr. old son who just got his license is about to dress it up a little. In the last week I went for front brakes, total tune up, O2 sensor, front left bearing and rear shackles - both sides. One side was totally gone..leaf was actually resting on the bottom of the bed. Last Friday I spent 10 hrs. detailing it and it came out great. My son's 1st "want" is a new sound system. Do you remember your 1st car / truck?? I missed the 8-track era by a few years...LOL! Any suggestions?? I checked some posts and see mixed opinions on 2-din systems. Is it that hard to make one fit?? I prefer the fixed screen but Crutchfield is making me think twice about trying to install a 2-din. Appreciate any help.....thanks in advance.

Welcome to FRF
Double Din radios are not hard to install about the same as a regular single din. Just have to trim a little off the bezel. Crutchfield wont sell ya one if you tell them it is for a Ranger. I just told them it was for a 05 Explorer |
