2002 ranger wont start
2002 ranger wont start turn key over i get door sound
every thing on dash lights up but wont turn over no clicking noise ether drove it 4 hrs ago now wont start |
Re: 2002 ranger wont start
Try to cross over the solenoid to make sure it is the starter or the solenoid. If you jump over the solenoid and it turns over it is the solenoid, but if it don't turn over, go get a starter.

Re: 2002 ranger wont start
Can anyone else give any info to this problem? My buddies truck is doing the exact same thing and we want to try everything before we give up.

Re: 2002 ranger wont start
Straight drive or auto? Like the others said cross the solenoid..if a straight drive make sure it`s in neutral. Do the warning lights dim when you turn the switch to start? If not and it`s a straight drive it could be the clutch switch. If the lights do dim, the problem is under the hood. Take a hammer and lightly tap the starter while someone holds the switch in the start position. Check the grounds...check batt. voltage...check batt. treminals to make sure they are tight. Let us know what you find.

Re: 2002 ranger wont start
Went out and bought a new starter, the solenoid on his truck is attached to the starter, so no easy 10$ fix unfortunately, after a few hours in tight spaces we finally got it changed to no avail.
The battery is fine and we even tried to jump it. All the lights come on in the cabin, you can hear the fuel pump start to pull gas, but the truck doesn't even begin to start, no noise from the motor/starter at all. You can slighty hear the ignition coil click as well. Edit: It's a standard drive, 2.3L 2WD if that's relevant. |
Re: 2002 ranger wont start
Is there a neutral safety switch on the truck?
