Bad TPS????

Hi everyone, I am new to the site and a new ranger owner. I have just bought a 1994 Ranger 3.0 5-speed from the documented second owner of the truck. It is a very clean and well taken care of truck. The previous owner said the truck had never been drove hard and you had to drive it easy. It drives fine if you are very easy with it but the idle surges and it has a very bad hesitation and stumble if you quickly give it throttle and if you go over about 3/4 throttle. It has all of the symptoms of a bad TPS but I checked it with my multi meter and it tests fine. What else could be going on?

Clogged fuel filter, bad fuel pressure regulator, bad fuel pump, clogged injectors, vacuum leak, bad MAF sensor... Id start with a fuel pressure and vacuum test. Is the check engine light on? How many miles on the engine?

I changed the fuel filter today. Check engine light goes on and off randomly. Can’t see or hear any vacuum leaks. I have ran some fuel injector cleaner through it. Odometer shows 28,000 but I don’t know if that’s 128 or 228.

Take a car of MAF cleaner clean it then take the pretty girl for a short drive....if still the same after 10-20 mins check for an air leak around the bottom of the intake with the maf cleaner any spike in rpms means you found your leak.. FYI you don’t always here a leak

Thanks Karu89. I will try that. I am also leaning towards maybe having near stopped up catalytic converters. I am going to unhook the exhaust and see if it throttles up like it should.
