Exhaust repair, truck won't go in gear
I have a 1997 Ford Ranger XLT. I had the exhaust pipe break a couple days ago. Before the muffler, not after. I put on a coupling and various patches. Which they didn't hold. On the way home yesterday, which was a long drive. The seal between the coupling and exhaust broke, so the exhaust was bleeding through the crack. After a while the truck started running erratic, which I figured was because the exhaust was essentially clogged somewhat, because it was trying to vent through the crack instead of through the muffler. The speedometer was going up and down, the gears were changing slow. I got home. And immediately got a much better seal with J.B weld instead of the other brand I had used. But I started up the truck, and it is not really going into gear normally. At first it wasn't at all. Then it is partially, but not fully. It will go a little, then act like it is in neutral. Both forward and in reveres. It is an automatic transmission.
