New from Canada

Hey folks, just bought a ranger and was told this was the place to go to learn more about it. Its a 2002 XLT extended cab (suicide doors) horrible gold colour 4.0l v6 4X4 319 kilometres. So far only on issue, my door ajar light is always if tried spraying the latches with wd-40 but no joy. Anyone have any tips?

Hey, welcome!
Is your dome light on?

Dome light is on, key in ignition warning buzzer is on in all key positions except when the engine is running. Turning key to the acc position and key buzzer goes constant there too. Which leads me to believe it thinks at least one door is always open. The doors close tight. No wind noise on the the the hwy like a partially open door would make.

I know the doors are closed tight, but I don't think the sensor does. When you go to lock it with the key fob, does it chirp twice? Or just once?

It actually didn’t come with a key fob. Just a chip key for the ignition. Where would I find the sensor?

I was able to make mine function again with using something called Sili-Kroil (I LOVE that stuff!) A nice, long shot in each door latch assembly, then opened and closed the doors a dozen times. Dome light goes off when it's supposed to and the door ajar light only comes off it the door is, well, ajar. The only downside? The smell from the Sili-Kroil lingers a bit.

I’ll see if I can find that out here. I’ve been spraying them with pb blaster.
