Re: fog lights & driving lights.
"Fog" lights are yellow or amber, the rest would be driving or aux lights.
We have a law in quebec that states any other light than headlights over the bumper has to be covered on public roads. |
Re: fog lights & driving lights.
oh alright thats some good info. and yeah we have that here in pa too. but most people dont follow it... but witch one usually goes where for best performance? fog lights below bumper and aux above? as in urs, the ones below that look cool and bright lol are those fogs or just aux/driving lights?

Re: fog lights & driving lights.
You could go with a different valance with the fog light holes and mount them in there to have more of a factory look too and you can just run the wiring from the ones you have on now to the newer ones you get. You have a Harry's U Pull it and i'm sure they would have one of them there cheap, I find them all the time at the one in Hazleton. The yellows do suck, I've never seen them do anything! You can get superwhite bulbs from autozone pretty cheap, or get the other fog lights that are brighter. Are your lenses banged up/faded or something?

Re: fog lights & driving lights.
Mine are aux lights, but i plan to do an HID bulb swap. I'm not set about the colour yet, i'm torn between the yellows and pure whites (4300-4500k).
Like Clinton said, you can install the lights wherever you want, doesn't make a big difference in the end, since they'll point down anyways. |
Re: fog lights & driving lights.
ok cool. and do u mean valance as a differnt bottom lip? orrr? and yeah deff got a harrys u pull it. i need to pick up a new stereo dash ring or whatever anyway.. and yeah my lens look like theres fog in them there that bad... haha i tried cleaning them but doesnt do much. i cant even see the bulbs throught them. unless ur not supposed too.. but what do u guys think would be my best best? overall new lenses? or just try an ultrawhite bulb like u said and better fogs.. cuz i just picked up shitty 20 dollar fogs. and they shine yellowish but the lenses are like shiny blueish white, i guess for fog/snow. also to ranger sport. do all rangers come with those bottoms lights as aux lights? i thought the switchs and relays say fog lights??
appreciate all the help and thought. thx |
Re: fog lights & driving lights.
Well manufacturers have this funny way of mis-using the term fog light. I mean you would never use bright white lights in a dense fog, you wouldn't see jack!
Rangers come with these type of lights as an option, but standard on the Sport edition. |

Re: fog lights & driving lights.
ohh alrighty. well my lower valance is like just a piece of thin plastic.. nothing like your bumperish style.. are they both lower valance? or am i misunderstanding..? and im going to check harrys u pull it either today or tommorow. and i just checked ebay and they do have nice cheap ones. thanks broo.
*Edit* i actually checked and i have a fog lamp relay...? wtf does that mean?? i hadd factorry ones b4...?? i installed ones myself without relay.. :/ doesnt seem to be burnin the switch yet.. haha |
Re: fog lights & driving lights.
Any time man! For your truck it should be a lower valance, look for the ones with fog light holes then try to find fog lights to match
|
Re: fog lights & driving lights.
alright i will dooo. is it hard to put them on then? or is it just some screws?
|
Re: fog lights & driving lights.
they can screw in or snap in, it's easy. If you pull one from the junk yard you'll see how it goes. I went to the junkyard yesterday and I couldn't find one for you, they had alot of newer Rangers there without those valances

Re: fog lights & driving lights.
ok children! I have installed over 500 pairs of fog/driving/off road lights in my 42 years.
FOG LIGHTS ARE NOT DETERMINED BY THEIR COLOR. but by the beam of light: _______ Driving lights project a long, narrow beam: - - color has nothing to do with it! There are amber fog/clear fog lights, clear driving and amber (though more used in european countries) driving lights. If one was to put a yellow 9007 bulb in their headlights, would that make them "fog Lights"? NO. they are still headlights, only now they are yellow. So stop telling people that all white lights (except headlights) are driving lights. |
