Brake Lines
 

Need to replace all brake lines on my 2000 Ranger.Anyone know of a kit for my truck.

No "kits" per se and lengths are different for regular cab short bed, regular cab long bed, extended cab short bed.

There were some options as far as no anti lock, rear anti lock, 4 wheel anti lock that changes the front line length and fittings.

The absolute easiest way if you intend on doing it yourself would be to buy a roll of copper brake line, buy the individual fittings, buy or rent a double flaring tool (please note the double your life is on the line here) and do the lines one at a time.

The copper brake line bends so much easier and is a pleasure to work with.

If you are not familiar with flaring and bending then please have a reputable brake shop handle this.

When I had to replace the line going to the rear of my 2000 Ranger I used NiCopp brake line, very easy to bend & flare. I purchased a good flaring tool & a roll of line & the fittings & made my own line.

Just be aware that depending on the line you need to replace you may need to do more if it will not come apart due to the trucks age & the amount of road salt it has encountered, & seeing as you are from NJ it probably has had its share. When I did the rear line on my Ranger I ended up replacing the flexible line to the rear axle housing, the 2 lines to the wheel cylinders, & both rear wheel cylinders because it was all rusted together.

Never, ever use copper tubing for brake lines. Unsafe. Copper clad steel tubing is OK.
