Old man with an old Ranger
Hello, just bought my first ever Ranger less than a week ago, actually the little woman wanted it and did all the haggle talk and got it down from $4495 to $3500. What we now own is a yeller '01 EDGE that appears to have been lifted (what do I know?) regular cab, short stepside bed, auto and a 4.0 engine. Did I say it is YELLER?

I know little about it, but enough to know it needs some TLC. Oil pressure indicator is under the peg, cruise doesn't work, horn doesn't work, fog light lens busted, seat torn a bit and had the most horrible film put on the windshield and rear window....which is now off. But it's yeller !!

Has way more power than I need though and uses a bit of fuel.

First time Ranger owner, I'm retired, 71 years old, former Marine and live in Lake Panasoffkee Florida near the Withlacoochee River. If you be in my area, the only yeller Ranger in town is mine....:)

Need the above fixed and also need a spare tire. Also need a Reese hitch.

Re: Old man with an old Ranger
being as both the horn and the cruise control doesn't work, that kinda sounds like the clockspring under the airbag in the steering wheel might have gone bad.

Re: Old man with an old Ranger
Thanks for the warm welcome. Lake Panasoffkee is near Wildwood, Florida which is where the Florida Turnpike ends at I-75.

I also am a Buckeye, but been in the land of year round bikinis for about 50 years!

Glad to see some other old farts on here and I am sure I will have questions galore in the coming days....thanks for the tip about the spring under the airbag for the horn and cruise control problem.

One issue at a time and I'll get ole yeller back in shape.

Bob, welcome to the forum. Nice looking truck! Next time I buy a vehicle, I'm taking your wife with me to seal the deal! LOL Yeah, horn and cruise sounds like a failed clockspring... fairly easy fix, but check fuses first!
