2002 ford ranger 3.0 misfire with a p0301 code

Cylinder 1 misfire : I changed the plugs then swapped wires 1 & 2 still no change , checked for spark at cylinder 1 it is good. Checked the injector whip with noid light shows good ,put a screwdriver to the injector can hear the injector clicking just like the rest. Where to go from here???

Check compression in cylinder 1 and compare it to at least 2 other cylinders. While testing spark is fairly reliable, you cannot guarantee the injector is spraying fuel- it could be clogged. I would rent a compression tester and check cylinder 1 for proper compression and if that passes go I would replace the injector on that cylinder.

Also, how did you test for spark on cylinder 1? If an inductive timing light or similar, fine. If you popped the wire and checked for arc to ground, you only test the wire and coil- plug could be fouled or shot. Replacing the plug in that cylinder when you do the compression test is a cheap way to be sure.

Edit: I see you changed the plugs. Youre prolly fine on spark, but you could replace cylinder 1s plug again in case you got a bad one.

Strange that you did not get a p0305 also. Hmmmm.
