Foreign Swapped Ranger
I was wondering if there ever was a ranger swapped with say a B20 from a honda or an RB26DETT from a skyline. Or maybe a EJ25 swap from a subaru or a VQ35 from a Nissan 350Z. any pointers would be very much appreciated.

Re: Foreign Swapped Ranger
I know ford made a concept ranger with the 90s model taurus SHO motor. It was a yamaha motor bad as hell. Supposed to bolt right up to a 3.0l ranger with a 5 speed trans. The only difference is the intake mani had to be flipped bit it was symetrical so it wasnt hard.

Re: Foreign Swapped Ranger
I could see maybe an SR20t or RB26Det but not so much an EJ, certainly not a B20. Even an S2k would be a little weak. You have to realize the Honda engines dont even start to make power until 4600 rpm, what makes them good and fun in the Honda chasis is power to weight ratio. Sub 1800lb car with 185-210hp at the wheels is a fun car, go-kart like when you consider Ef, EG, and even Ek hatchies loaded up and a lot of suspension tuning.
These trucks dont move like that, certainly not on twisty short tracks. Raw power for a straight line? Sure... Somd drift action even? Its being done. Desert racing? Absolutely! Auto crossing in a short or even moderate track? Challenging and a tear on the wallet because by the time you got done with chassis work, the only likely truck component wohld be the body maybe. |

My old s10 now has a 1jz with an 80mm turbo. It's pretty neat.

Re: Foreign Swapped Ranger
This is something I intend to do. Love the truck, but miss having power.

What engine does your ranger have? I know there are some guys getting serious power out of the boosted duratec 2.3's that come in rangers.

Lima makes good power boosted, too.
