Tire pressure sensors and compatible tires
I recently bought a base model '09 Ranger with the 15" tires and ugly wheels. First, does anyone know what kind of sensors are in them? The flat rectangular ones or the ones behind the valve stem? One is bad and I'd like to shop for a replacement without being gouged by a dealer. Secondly are there compatibility issues when replacing those wheels? Will any 5 lug 15" wheel fit or does it have to be specific to Ford or....?

Re: Tire pressure sensors and compatible tires
You have the Ranger-typical flat banded sensors. This post will help you find a replacement:
http://www.fordrangerforum.com/wheel...nt-option.html It looks like the current Huf sensor for the Ranger is http://www.tpms.com/Ford_TPMS_S0885_..._p/uvc8385.htm I suspect, but do not know for sure, that you could replace only one band sensor with only one stem-type sensor. You could also replace all four for what Ford wants for one OEM sensor. Good luck! Regan |
Won't be a problem. I had three different sets of wheels and my tire shop swapped them every time. However mine were all 15" so I couldn't tell you how it works with 16" or 17" etc.
They are the band kind, not the stem kind. |

Thanks for that! Now I know what I'm looking for!
