4.0 1/4 mile

I have a 2004 Edge (mods listed) with 172,xxx miles and I took it down to the track tonight. Ran 2 consecutive 15.8s 1/4 miles. And that was with all terain tires:D Any opinions or mod suggestions so I can get into the low 14s? I also want to replace factory parts that should not be taking the stress of racing with all the miles I have.

You want to shave a second and a half? Good luck. How much are you willing to spend on this? I mean before something breaks...

It's just a project. If something breaks, I'll buy a nicer replacement. And I'll be putting on some mustang wheels with street tires soon.

You didn't answer the question, we like need a budget

I'll assume then that the budget is unlimited. So go buy the modbox supercharger install kit. I think you could do that for 3-4k. Then the related upgrades, might run, I don't know, another 2k? Might get you your second and a half.

Or you could just go buy an old fox bodied v8 mustang and go faster for cheaper. In the end it is just a truck. I don't try to go fast in mine. In fact it's probably been 2 weeks since I even started it.

A second may not seem like it, but it is a pretty big difference in a 1/4 and even 1/8 mile. You're going to have to spend quite some money to shave a second off that time.

Why not go for the 13s and buy a new 2016 3.7L Mustang? Keep the Truck though.

The fuck would you buy a Mustang and get a 3.7? Get a 5.0 and hit 11s

I am assuming he has a budget ceiling to deal with.

From the OP and responses (slapping zip ties on the throttle cable to raise the gas pedal to higher and putting the gas pedal an an uncomfortable position), I sense the budget is pretty lean. So here are a few things to try to improve things, although you surely won't see 13's.

* Shed weight. Bye bye spare tire, jack, passengers, stray cargo and full tank of gas. This because, *general* rule of thumb is 100# = about .1 sec in a 1/4

* Try lighter wheels and tires.

* Get a tuner and use it.

There's a start for a lean budget. Oh, I run Wix air and fuel filters, I had not a clue in the least that a Wix fuel filter was a "mod". :D

Since a Wix fuel filter is now deemed to be a mod one must wonder, how many HP and how much torque is gained? Maybe the guy should test that one at the track..............:burnout:

I plan on getting new spark plugs, a throttle body spacer, and long tube headers. Any suggestions? Also, I removed the fuel filter from my mods list, maybe this will erase distraction.

----------

I don't really have a budget but I'm trying to find small parts to replace things one by one for more performance. Then I may get a supercharger.
