Re: need pricing
Welcome Tony, Glad you found us. Have fun and enjoy FRF.Some times it's cheeper to buy new than rebuild, thats so true when I wanted to have my son's Engine and tranny redone, And I got a 3 year 36,000 mile wty, on a create motor from Jegs on an 84 vehicle. To me if it was my ranger it's a good time to do a v8 swap. I bought a donner v8 explorer the same year as my ranger with low miles that was hit in the rear, CHEEP. You have a lot of choices if you are planning to keep it.

Although, a $3000 price tag for such an endeavor for stock, unless thats what your totally after, I understand. But with some effort, a few tools, an engine stand from Harbor fright for $75 and some time to fill your days and late nights you could have the satisfaction of doing it yourself, perhaps making some upgrades along the way too. I picked up an entire long black 4.0L OHV with 86k on the clock up for $260 plus the $40 in gas it took me for the trip to fetch it. I stumble across deals all the time. I'm in a little less of a hurry with the same mileage on my truck or more now and its a 93'. Ive gotten it stripped down to basically the bare block minus the timing chain and crank pulled. I am doing a full restoration with exception to just better pistons in the lower end. rods and wrist pins will be fine for my needs, I dont plan on going for more than my 300hp goal... as for the trans, check out the Drivetrain area on here. it may be something as simple as a shift solenoid or a trans flush to cure the issue... Just my $ .02 |
