Looking for the right Ranger!
Hi everyone!
Well I'm new to the site and I'm here not because I have a Ranger, but because I want one. My dad had a 2000 Flare Side 4.0 v6 that was just great. My nephew rolled it... he's fine (thank God), but the Ranger is toast. I was hoping to buy it from my dad some day... My wife and I just got a Buick for a family car and I decided I no longer wanted my PT Cruiser, a car I got from a series of bad choices, one of which was trading away an Explorer I absolutely loved :bawling: Anyways I'm a big fan of Fords, I've kept my first car, a 1981 Mustang, and will never sell it :) so now I want my daily driver / family "fun" car to be a Ranger! Here's the question of the day, does the exact model I'm looking for even exist!? I am wanting a Ranger that is a 4cyl, 5sp, 2wd - for the better gas mileage as a daily drive. I also want a supercab, so we can all jump in and go camping, to the lake, whatever. I can't seem to find such a combo out there, at least where I live (southwest MO). Am I being too picky? I sold the Cruiser in one day on Craigslist so now I'm sitting on the money just searching for my perfect Ranger:proud: |
Re: Looking for the right Ranger!
there are no 4 cylinder supercab ranger 2wds built after 2000. all supercabs are 6 cylinder
closest you can come is a 2wd 4 cylinder regular cab, or a 2wd 6 cylinder Ranger Sport 2wd supercab welcome to FRF, Levi! |
Re: Looking for the right Ranger!
What about before 2000? I'm not really opposed to getting a 90's Ranger at all. Thanks for the info and the welcome!

Re: Looking for the right Ranger!
Not sure what the pre 2000's configurations are.
but i'm sure others can offer assistance! |
Re: Looking for the right Ranger!
I have been searching like crazy for something and have found a couple I think I want to check out. I'd love to know which one you guys think is the most worth checking out just from the what I can see online. Thanks!

Welcome to FRF

Re: Looking for the right Ranger!
to me, both of those are way overpriced for the amount of miles and that style ranger.
for about $3-5,000 you can get a nice 4x4 6 cylinder 2001+ ranger, which has a lot more power, better winter handling and gas mileage which is between 16-21 mpg. but, if you really want a 4 cylinder 2wd supercab, keep checking around, there are better deals out there. |
Re: Looking for the right Ranger!
A major drawback with some older models, is that there is no suicide doors to access the back. That could be a pain when you get the kids in the truck.
Just something to think about. Welcome to FRF! |
