So how bout' that airbag recall? (Expanded 6/1/16)

Any Rangers affected?

I'm good as far as I can tell.

I ran my VIN, and Ford says there are no active recalls on it.

I seen on Yahoo news Ford Ranger was listed in the line of recalls, didn't specify what years though.

Just got this online, guess my year (2004) was the only one recalled.

Ford

Contact your local Ford dealer to schedule an appointment to have the airbag replaced in affected vehicles. Ford states that it has not seen any issues in its vehicles, but under advisement from NHTSA, and with information from Takata, the company is recalling specific vehicles, including the 2004 Ford Ranger and 2005-2007 Mustang.

Following the recall of an additional 447,310 vehicles Ford is now in compliance with NHTSA's call for a nationwide recall. The total number of Ford vehicles affected by this recall is 538,977.

Ran my VIN and 'bags are doing just great.

Gotta wonder about the people with a vehicle they bought used, and in the past it blew an airbag in a wreck, it got replaced with a used and currently recalled bag that just happened to exactly fit their wrecked vehicle, but they won't know that it's a recall bag because when they run their VIN, it comes up clean and their original airbag is not part of the recall. This, the (nearly impossible) tracking of swapped out used parts, a manufacturers nightmare. And another good example of why you shouldn't run to the JY for all parts just because they are cheap.

I would say depending on the part...

When I wrecked my mustang only one airbag went off... this recall explains why.

You're lucky that you didn't get a shrapnel blast from the airbag that did go off.

Just another example of government intrusion. Not saying that airbags don't save lives (they do), but how do you ever test to see if your airbag is going to work? Wife's 2002 Taurus--13 years old--are the airbags good or not?

I ran my 99 Ranger & no recalls
wife's 2011 Kia Sorrento & no recalls
my 2005 Dodge dually steering linkage which I had checked out & it's ok but it does have the air bag recall & said there are no remedies at this time.
