Please help!!

I know this is a ford ranger forum, but my friends mustang just blew up and he knows jack about cars so I'm trying to help him out. Its night time so I can't see very well, so in the mean time can somebody please tell me what to look for and replace or any info at all would be great. Looks like the oil pan blew to me. Please look at the pictures and tell me what you think. This is from a 2000 v6 mustang. Was in obvious need of an oil change. Thanks in advance for every bit of help I get.

i guess you are missing a rod a piston and maybe a crank shaft and a block if your luck is bad

With that amount of carnage, the motor is done.

We only found parts of the case.. Nothing else I don't think... Oh my

Re: Please help!!

It looks like it threw a piston or rod and it ripped through the motor. There's internal damage that you can't see until you tear down the motor.

So what should be done? Scrap the car? New engine? Rebuild?

Re: Please help!!

Rebuild is out of the question, the block is most likely damaged from flying metal and debris so its scrap. Not sure what financial position your friend is in, but if it was me, a 14 year old vehicle isn't worth putting $3000-$4000 into it by getting a new motor. I would part the car out and get another vehicle.

Re: Please help!!

sometimes if u lucky the block will be ok but you have notting to lose by braking the engine down

wow, you blew up a 3.8, go you.

those motors are cheap, hit the junkyard, and swap in a used one,

but change the head gaskets before you install it back into the car, and you're gucci for another 100,000 miles.

Re: Please help!!

Yeah, there should be a piston attached to that.

New motor or scrap the car.
