If it aint my way of sayin hi!

I am John, I own a 1984 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4 with a v6.
I am 17, and have a very troubled Ranger.

Its kinda rusted out, and was hoping to get some advice on how to repair it a little.

the frame needs replaced, needs the engine rebuilt, the brake line is rusted through... etc...

so its pretty bad, and all that is on top of the fact I was parking it when the brakes failed, and I knocked out a headlight hitting a trailer at around 10mph.

the tailpipe fell off and we ran over it last summer, so we had to add a piece of pipe to where it broke to put it back on. (oh, and the CV joints are shot =P).

Welcome to FRF. Id say find another truck maybe wrecked and swap parts either to yours or from yours to it to make a good Lil ranger

Jack up the radiator cap, remove busted pieces, insert new Ranger under cap, replace cap, enjoy!!! JP Sounds like you have a lot of work ahead of you. Find a good junkyard and cruise the craigslist adds. Welcome to the FRF

Thanks guys! and yeah, I figured that, I am actually trying to find either another 80's Ranger, or an 80's F150, just because of the body style, (If I go for an 80's F150, it'll have to have a firm built, like post-war).

Any ideas on what the engine is doing if it sounds like a tin can is running around inside of it, while starting it up?

Might be a spun main bearing, or need lots of oil lol

You might check out LMC TRuck they'll send you a catalog of parts. Mostly interior and exterior after market parts.
I see a lot of the 80 models around where I live so I imagine parts are still out there.

would make a good project for auto shop. To do it right would cost quite a bit, might be better to look for another truck, and use this on for parts or make it an off road rig.
