Ranger wana-be here. I found your forum while googling information on Rangers. My experience - If there is not a good user group find another product. Any way I'm in the Vancouver WA area and am here to learn.

If you were looking for a late model ranger what would you get and why? Basically it's going to be our third car (my car), the kid is using the second one more and more :-). Will do some light short distance towing. I like the idea of buying used so I can spend the money saved on tinkering and fix'n er up.

Welcome! If you plan to buy it to tow I would look for a ranger with the 4.0 engine. Also, depending on your needs and financial situation, I would try to get a supercab with 4 doors.

I was thinking of getting the manual trans. Do you have any suggestions about the trans?
