Throttle body size
Hey all, 1st post, got a question:
I have an '06 Sport, 4.0L V6. I just put in a throttle body spacer to try and gain some gas mileage, but the inside diameter of the throttle body prevents any air from hitting the spacer. What I'm wondering is, would it be worth getting an aftermarket performance throttle, or boring out the back end of the existing one? Have a K&N FIPK intake on the way, hope to see that boost some mileage also. |
Re: Throttle body size
Throttle body spacers dont do nothing. Sorry if you wasted any money on it...

Re: Throttle body size
a friend of mine got the exact same model for his truck and he got 3-4 mpg better with it. i just don't know if there is enough air hitting the grooves...

Re: Throttle body size
for one to actually show improvements it needs to be like 1 meter long.

Re: Throttle body size
you're friend is smokin' some good stuff....
they don't do anything but add a nice whistle. keep in mind, this is coming from someone who bought one ONLY for the whistle and ONLY for $20 shipped. lol. I saw no gains anywhere but the whistle. |
Re: Throttle body size
believe me i researched this issue a lot... if my friend saw gains i believe him. anyway, i talked to the company i bought it from tonight and it's the WRONG TBS. guess it's for rangers up to '03 or something, not an '06. so... the search for cheap hp and mileage gains continues...

Re: Throttle body size
TB's and intakes are the same on the 4.0 from 01-current. So the manufacturer are idiots. In fact, I've got an '06 engine complete with intake and TB on my '01 Right now....
Keep researching...they do nothing but make a neat sound...again, this coming from someone WITH one already.... |
Re: Throttle body size
x1000000 on the spacers showing no hp or mpg gain.
