Gaffer91's FX4 Level II
Hey guys, I'm Matt.
Back on December 13th, my old 99 Ranger crapped out on me completely. :( Which led me to search for a newer Ranger, since my old one was a complete tank and never gave me any problems. After 2 days of searching local classifieds, I stumbled across this beauty: http://www.fordrangerforum.com/membe...fresh-wash.jpg http://www.fordrangerforum.com/membe...wonderland.jpg The kid I bought it off of had it listed for $7000 CDN. It had 164k KMS on it, engine ran completely sound. Only a few minor issues, NO Alcoas :(, the middle console armest is busted, my rear bumper is pushed down and the left rear fender flare is broken. So I figured I'd offer the guy, offered him $5000, we agreed on $5200. So now it's been mine for officially a month and 7 days, it was possibly the best thing that has happened. Since I've owned it, I have only done a few things to it so far, such as: OHC: http://www.fordrangerforum.com/membe...-installed.jpg Tinted '06 Tails off my 99: http://www.fordrangerforum.com/membe...nted-tails.jpg Blackout Heads: http://www.fordrangerforum.com/membe...kout-heads.jpg Heads: http://www.fordrangerforum.com/membe...64430-fogs.jpg http://www.fordrangerforum.com/membe...-side-view.jpg Yes, I did remove the mud flaps. HATED the look. Well this is my log, to keep track of what I do. Thanks for viewing guys, more to come when I get around to it/when it isn't winter here! |
Nice job so far. Looks great. Welcome

Uhm, as for other plans I need a hitch, new bumper, fender flare, LED tails, torsion crank or an actual 2"-3" lift, new rims, when I do the rims I'll put BFG ATs back on, HID heads and fogs, need to do a bed liner which will be my summer project, finally will be an exhaust system. I'm sure there's more but I can't think right now. Slowly but surely it will all come together. :) |

Re: Gaffer91's FX4 Level II
nice.
needs alcoas! |
Re: Gaffer91's FX4 Level II
Good progress!
Check out RockAuto.com and look up part # ARM100. It's the fix-it for the very very common "shorty console" armrest breakage. Well worth the $40 US or so. |

Here's mine with stock alcoas and 31x10.5 bfg at and 1.5" spacers. I would like a wider stance but it's probly not a good idea to go more than a 2" spacer. I will be selling these spacers when I get my new rims and 33s |

Here's what the hubcentric ones look like.
See how the have the lip on the center bore Also I wouldn't get anything less than 1.5" otherwise you might have to trim your wheel lugs |

So I want hub centric right?

Absolutely no drone in cab at any speed/rpms. When it is idling it sounds so crisp and beast. I will get some videos tomorrow, along with a walk through of all my things I have done so far with my truck guys. Thanks for all the help, the flowmaster 44 super series is definitely worth the money. |
Re: Gaffer91's FX4 Level II
I suggest getting new wheels with a decent backspace rather than spacers. 15x8 with the standard 3.5-3.75" backspace completely change the look of the truck.
For the price of spacers, you'll have 4 new steel wheels......that fit good in the fenders. Plus, who likes stock wheels anyway? |
