alarm won't shut off, truck won't start
If this is not the correct forum, please forgive the mistake, as this is my first post.
I have a 1999 Ford Ranger, V6, automatic transmission. The battery ran down after a few months of not being driven, and the alarm started going off very softly, and I couldn't get it to shut off. I tried jumping the truck, but that just made the alarm much louder, and truck wouldn't even turn over, so I unhooked the battery. I replaced the battery, but that didn't change anything. I also replaced the battery in the automatic door opener, but that didn't help, either. My son says I'll have to have it towed to a shop, but I've always been big on fixing things, so with your help, I hope to prove him wrong. (We have a bet.) Thanks so much for any advice. |
Re: alarm won't shut off, truck won't start
Pull the PATS fuse in the cab. Then pull the horn relay fuse in the engine compartment. Wait a minute or two. Replace PATS fuse attempt to start truck. Then replace horn fuse. Hopefully this works. If not, your son may be rights and a tow to the dealer may be needed because the PATS system can forget which keys are for the truck. They ( the dealer) will have to relearn the system. Good luck, hope you win the bet.

If that don't work lock the doors with the key then unlock the drivers door with the key twice.

Is this a factory alarm or aftermarket? Sounds aftermarket, Pull the fuse under the dash
