2008 ranger oem sound system questions
I recently bought a used (almost new) 2008 ranger. It's just a regular cab 2.3l and it has that basic am/fm radio with 5 presets and nothing else. I was going to replace it with a JVC Arsenal.
I was also looking at replacing the speakers, but now I am extremely confused as to what my ranger has in it stock. There is, obviously, a speaker in both of the doors. These I assume are 6*8’s. There are also two speakers, mounted on the rear cabin wall behind each seat. They look completely stock but I didn’t think the basic system had four speakers. Also, they don’t work. I didn’t realize this when I bought it, so I hope it’s a problem with the speakers and not an amp or something. Does anyone else have these wall speakers? Are the speakers behind the seat 6*8 too. Any ideas on why they are not working or any general advice on an audio upgrade in a very basic ranger. If all four are the same I guess I can replace them all with the same type of speaker? Should I pay more attention to a new amp? |
Re: 2008 ranger oem sound system questions
Well the reason there is no sound is because there are just holes behind the grills.
Does anyone know if these stock holes are 6*8. I guess i could measure Also the stock grill seems to be close to the seat. Is this still a good place to put a speaker or would the sound just hit the seat and be muffled. What hardware would I need, other than the head unit and speakers themselves, to complete the intilation. |

adapter faceplate to go to a single din.

Re: 2008 ranger oem sound system questions
yes the rears are also 6x8's. However the wiring should already be there to add the speakers. Your head unit might not support them though. If you go ahead with the new radio and wanna save some coin... take your factory fronts and put em in the back and get a nice new pair for the doors.
